Just got in from the game.  Gotta go take a nap before going to work.

Prayer requests are listed below.

Also, please feel free to just visit here.  Tell us about how your day went.  Your successes.  Your failures.  Your fun.  Whatever.  When I post this thread, I do not have access to any chat programs, so this sometimes substitute as that vessel for me.

Continue to keep your thoughts and prayers for the members of our Armed Forces serving around the world, especially during this time of increased awareness.  Please thank God for these men and women every day.  In addition, please keep the wives and family members in your thoughts.

I'm in a state of shock - totally numb right now guys.  I got a call about 45 minutes ago that a good friend of mine passed away this morning. He had his gastric bypass surgery 6 weeks ago Monday. He had a couple of minor issues, but was doing great the last 2 or 3 weeks. He was so excited because he had already lost 53 pounds and was already down to just 1 insulin shot a day. His wife couldn't get him to wake up this morning.  She said he was running a slight fever last night, but otherwise said he felt fine. They don't know exactly what the cause of death was yet.

Before his surgery, we talked a great deal about it. I told him that it was a personal decision, but that I would do it again tomorrow. He told me that I was "an inspiration" and "role model" to him, and that he wanted to be as successful as I have been after his surgery. He said he couldn't wait until the Doc let him start working out with me. He was so upbeat and positive and really looking forward to his new, healthier life. We had already made plans for a couple of motorcycle trips later this summer and this fall.

DAMN IT ALL!!  I'm really shook up about this - I feel empty and awful -  almost have a sense of guilt about this.

Say a few prayers for him and his family, would you?

Thanks, Debra ..   Actually the post was by another reg member of the FM, "BamaBob" ..    We're a bit worried how the stress from this loss of his close friend may impact Bob, as he is a heart patient himself ..   We should keep Bob in our prayers, too, I guess ..

Hey there George...
Hope you got a few good winks of sleep before heading to work!  It was another busy day.  I swear, it will not slow down until I get back home I think.  I would LOVE to sleep in, but there doesn't seem to be a day to do that until MAYBE Saturday.  UGH.

Heather called me flipping out....she got the form 964 which meant she passed the retest of the first Texas Laws driver's ed test so having that form meant she could go take her permit test.  I wanted to do it ASAP because if she didn't pass, we'd have to go out there every day until she DID pass if I wanted her to get the permit before we left so she could practice up home.  We had already gotten her Verification of Enrollment from the school, but had to stop off at the bank to get the original birth certificate and original SS# for them to look at.  Did all that, got to the DPS and waited our turn.  Really wasn't as bad time wise as I thought it was going to be.  We waited in the main melting pot area for about 15-20 min tops, then her number got called so went to the next waiting area.  As we were sitting there, this VERY scary hoodlum looking kid comes in (I later told Heather don't EEEEEVER bring a guy like THAT home) and flops himself in the one desk chair they have.  The lady hands him a written test and tells him to sit down and start.  He said, "is this the same one I took before"?  Greaaaaat.  She tells him no, there are several different test, then leaves.  We were still sitting there waiting when the fool sticks his hands in his pocket, pulls out his cell phone and looked at something (probably an answer that he knew he'd have trouble with and put the answer on his phone).  THAT pissed me off!  I could not believe the kid was CHEATING on his permit test and to be so bold to try to do it in front of them.  Heather finally got her name called, so did what we had to do with the lady, she hands her a slip and tells her to go to one of the computers and start her test.  I went back out in the lobby and the first thing I did was told the front desk lady what was going on.  Sorry, yep, I'll GLADLY call myself the "nark" but if that kid is out on the road where I'M driving or worse yet, someone new like Heather, he'd better pass legitimately!  She said she would go watch.  He left with his permit so apparently didn't miss more than the 9 you can miss.  Heather ended up getting hers, too, she missed 6.  Here's the funny though.  The dopey kid says to me BEFORE we got out of the car initially, "mom, if I pass, can I drive home"?  I started laughing and said, "Heather, you have never even so much as STARTED my car, let alone me let you drive home THROUGH town, on a freeway feeder, a major highway, and into the neighborhood, uh, that would be a huge NO"!  Guess you've got to give her credit for asking.  Paul was like, "no, I wouldn't have let her drive home either."  He plans on taking her out this weekend which is fine by me!!!

Ok, I'd better get moving....

Hope everyone has a good night!

Morning all,

Not much new here, just a very stressful day, and I know those will continue through the end of the month as I close everything out at work.

Jill, prayers going out for you and hubby on Heather's driving education.  My dad taught me how to drive in a muddy field, when I was 11 or 12, just part of growing up on a farm.  Please be patient, and please remind me of this in 3 years when mine turns 16!!

Prayers for all of the spoken and unspoken requests, special healing prayers for our kids in need and those that care for them.  Praying that Jennifer had awesome interviews today!  Blessings to all!

Avis
